How to shop for Credit Card deals

Many credit card companies advertise deals where you get cards with rewards and low introductory interest rates. Many of these credit cards are sent to you via mail, and may seem enticing at first. If you are like many people, you are wary of these offers, and there is nothing wrong with this. Credit card companies have to continue enhancing their marketing in order to attract new customers, and their tactics have evolved over the years.

Traditionally, credit cards were advertised with no annual fees. While this was revolutionary during the 1980s, it led to what is known as the APR wars. Many credit card companies begin offering introductory rates which could be as low as 9% for the first six months. While this may not sound like much today, at the time nothing like it had ever been seen before. The marketing tactics were very effective. What you consider to be a credit card special today is dependent on what you are looking for.

If you are someone who has a large amount of credit card debt, credit card offers are available with low interest rates which can allow you to tranfer your balances from cards which have high interest rates. If you are constantly flying because you're on business, credit cards with airline rewards may be a good deal.  Most of these credit card offers are made for a limited time. They are either only available to certain customers or you only have a certain period of time to apply for them.

There are three common offers which are made with credit cards. These are low interest, rewards, and cash back. The low interest deal typically features a card which has a 0% interest on purchases and balance transfers for 6 to 12 months. A person who has a credit card with a rewards feature will usually be given a gift certificate by using the card to make a purchase. Credit cards with cash back features will allow customers to receive a certain amount of money back when they purchase groceries or gasoline.

These specials are not usually worth it if you don't really need them. Getting a credit card is a serious issue, and it should not be taken lightly. How you use your credit card will effect your credit score, and if you are not responsible you could run into serious financial trouble. If you are looking for a new credit card, it is important to make sure it has features which help you.
